Character Building Day For BETA And Levi Rogers At ProMX Gillman
The Caloundra Motorcycle Centre (CMC) BETA Australia Team made the long journey from the Sunshine Coast down to Gillman, South Australia, for Round 3 of the ProMX Championship. Continuing to lead the way developing with the All-New BETA RX450 in Australian Motocross, the CMC BETA Team were eager to hit the sandy track of Gillman to see how Rogers would fare in the highly competitive MX1 field.
In the morning MX1 Qualifying session, Rogers would struggle to find a flow on the challenging and sandy Gillman track, setting a time good enough for 13th position and leaving Levi and the team with settings to change leading into Moto 1 after missing out on Superpole.
With settings updated and Rogers ready to push back up to his usual speed, Moto 1 saw a great improvement with solid track position inside the Top Ten against the elite Factory backed racing teams of Australian ProMX. Crossing the chequered flag in 10th position, Rogers would match his season best Moto finish to start the day at Gillman.
A repeat in Moto 2 again saw Rogers push inside the Top Ten early, as the Queensland based rider charged hard through the sands of Gillman. Unfortunately an unexpected race related mechanical issue would hinder Levi’s progress later in the Moto and after returning to the mechanics area and the bike resuming normal capacity, it was deemed it better to return back to the pits, retiring from the Moto.
“We are still in the process of developing the All-New BETA RX450 and today was another journey towards bike settings that worked for me in the sand”, commented Rogers.
“Moto 1 went well and I was happy with 10th place, I think we could have improved further in Moto 2 but the bike had some small issues and then returned to normal, but by that time I had lost touch with being in the battle so we decided to retire and assess the situation. We will continue to build and be ready for Maitland”, concluded Rogers.
Levi Rogers and the Caloundra Motorcycles Centre team now have their sights set on Round 4 of the Aus ProMX taking place at Maitland NSW, Saturday 25th – Sunday 26th May.
