Shackleton top Junior in MX3 Pro MX Championship

Western Australian young gun Seth Shackleton has finished off the Pro MX Championship in the MX3 class with a solid 8th place overall and claimed the highest placed junior position for the series! 

“It’s been a tough series for me but overall I’m happy with 8th place in the MX3 Championship and to be the first junior home is a bonus,” said Shackleton.

“To be honest we were hoping to be battling for podiums this year but it just wasn’t to be. Every time I’d start to get some momentum there would be some kind of hurdle to jump over, but I never gave in and I’ve learned so much this year.”

The 8th and final round of the series was held at QMP in Queensland and the BCP HAS Honda Junior Development Team rider had his struggles in Moto 1 with a huge first lap crash, destroying his helmet and hitting his shoulder hard in the ground. Some work from the Racesafe crew in between motos and Shackleton would dig deep for a gritty 10th place in Moto 2 to finish out the series.

“Now that we’ve completed Pro MX we can fully focus on the upcoming National Junior Championships in Bunbury in under a month’s time,” continued Shackleton. “I absolutely love the new 2025 model Honda 250 and can’t wait to fine tune it a little more for the Aussies.”

Shackleton’s team mate Leah Rimbas competed in the WMX Women’s Championship also held over the weekend at QMP and came away with 10-10 Moto scores for 10th overall!

“I didn’t feel quite as comfortable this round and my starts seemed to suffer a little bit,” said Rimbas.

“The first Moto I came from a long way back and was battling to get into 6th place but I had a decent size crash and also ran off the track near the end of the race. The track was brutal but it’s such good experience racing against these senior girls.”

The team will now knuckle down in preparation for the upcoming National Junior MX Titles to be held in Bunbury Western Australia from September 23rd to the 28th!
