Shackleton Back to Back Champion while Rimbas goes undefeated in WA State MX Titles
The duo of Leah Rimbas and Seth Shackleton have topped off an incredible series campaign over the weekend in Western Australia wrapping up their respective classes in the WA State Motocross Championships!
Held in wet and muddy conditions, the final round of the State Championships were run at the Northam Motocross track and conditions became brutal as the weekend played out!
After winning the 250cc Junior State Championship in 2023 Seth Shackleton came into 2024 hoping to make it back to back titles as he finished off his junior career! Shackleton would end up going 1-1-1 at the final round to clinch the title having only dropped two motos throughout the entire four round series.
“I’m really stoked to make it back to back titles for myself and the team,” said Shackleton.“This is what we were hoping for but there’s still the back end of the year to come. I’m really looking forward to the National Junior MX Titles here in Bunbury in 8 weeks time and fingers crossed we can make it back to back National Junior Titles as well.”
Shackleton’s team mate Leah Rimbas continued her dominant season wrapping up the final round of the Junior Girls State Title with another 1-1-1 on the day, making it a clean sweep of the series and an undefeated State Title campaign throughout the four rounds.
“We’ve had such a good run this year on the new Honda and to make it through the whole series without dropping a moto means the world to me,” said Rimbas.“ We’ve got the final round of Pro MX coming up soon and then it’s full focus on the National Junior Titles.”
Team manager Lee Hogan can’t speak highly enough of the team as they tick off major goals at just past the half way point of the season.
“I’m so happy for Seth and Leah,” said Hogan.
“They both work extremely hard and have a very solid network of family and supporters behind them over in WA that really makes a difference and allows them to do the travel back and forward to the east coast. We’re so fortunate to have Heath and Felicity Shipard from HAS Earthmoving doing so many things behind the scenes that keep the wheels turning.”“
As a team we’re very happy with where we’re at going into the business end of the year,” continued Hogan.
The National Junior MX Titles will be held at the Bunbury MX circuit in WA from September 23rd to the 28th.
