Beta And Dickson Dominate E3 At RD 5 & 6 AORC
The weekend saw the Beta Motorcycles Australia Race Team head to Edenhope, VIC for RD 5 & 6 of the Australian Off-Road Championship. Riders were met with clear blue skies, low temperatures and plenty of sand and dust to compete with.
For RD 5 on Saturday, riders raced in sprint formats across six tests with low visibility and high speeds putting riders and bikes to the test.
Dickson, aboard his RR 480 Racing absolutely dominated the E3 class, with 5 out of 6 test wins and 4th outright.
Wilksch had a tough day, while he had great speed in the highly competitive E2 class that saw him switch between 3rd and 4th place throughout 5 of the 6 rounds, an unfortunate issue with a rim lock saw him DNF in the 5th test, resulting in his overall results dropping significantly.
Nielsen in the EW class was nursing an elbow injury sustained from the last round of the Australian Hard Enduro Championship and struggled for strength in the tough sandy conditions, finishing the day in 5th place.
“The tracks were super sandy and chewed up, which is the type of tracks I race on back home, so I felt pretty comfortable out there amongst the tricky roots and sandy whoops. The RR 480 Racing just felt planted and could power me through. It was a tough race but managed to stay consistent through the day and bring home the win” – Jye Dickson
Moving onto RD 6 on Sunday, the riders were met again with tough sandy conditions and plenty of dust, with a sprint format across 5 tests.
Dickson, had another dominating day in the E3 class, where he took out all 5 tests aboard his RR 480 Racing and once again finished the day in 4th place outright.
Wilksch, had a slower day for RD 6, with him finishing the day in 5th place in the E2 class and 9th outright.
Nielsen, aboard her RR 300 Racing stayed consistent throughout the weekend, finishing 5th in the EW class.
“It was great to come away with a class win on both days in Edenhope. I’ve suffered from a few injuries early on in the season which hindered my results in the first few rounds, so it’s nice to be able to see what I can do on the Beta now I’m back and feeling good.” – Jye Dickson.
Following the great results from the weekend, Dickson is now 2nd place in the E3 class championship standings, just 4 points behind the top spot. Wilksch, now sits in 4th place in the E2 class and Nielsen sits in 4th place in the EW class.
Dickson and Wilksch now head to RD 1 of the GNCC this weekend in Moulamein, NSW.
