Ladies lead the way in Kyogle for AORC
The dynamic duo Jess Gardiner and Danielle McDonald continued on their winning ways, dominating proceeding at rounds nine and ten of the Australian Off-Road Championships.
In the rolling hills surrounding Kyogle in Northern New South Wales, Gardiner and McDonald dominated their respective classes and conquered the challenging terrain that sets the Kyogle weekend apart from the others.

Gardiner swept all before her on the weekend, charging to a clean sweep of test wins in the Sprint format conducted on Saturday. She was a cut above her rivals and showed why she is a world class rider with her speed and aggression.
And she backed that up again on Sunday but admitted the round win was much harder as she couldn’t find a flow in her riding or on the technical Kyogle terrain.
“It was good to get the win on both days but it felt like hard work on Sunday as I just couldn’t get going. I made small mistakes all day long, used up a lot of energy and just felt a bit off with my riding.
“The team did an awesome job as it was a busy weekend and we have so much going on. Thanks to Yamaha and our team sponsors as well as the Kyogle club who always put on a great event,” Gardiner said.
Matching the results of the team boss always holds things in good stead and Danielle McDonald, did exactly that, taking all before her in the Junior Girls division on the weekend. McDonald is having some kind of season and while she is the clear favourite in the Junior Girls division, it’s her results with the boys that’s really making people take notice.
At each round this year, the 16-year-old teenager finishes inside the top five of all the junior riders entered and is edging closer to that elusive Outright win in the junior categories. McDonald races with aggression and attacks the course without fear and the improvement in her riding over the last 12 months has been significant.
“My goal is to win this year in the JG class, but winning and beating all the boys would also be pretty cool and something I’m working towards. I’m not there yet and I think I can make it happen, but I have only two rounds to go, so I will be all out at Dungog to make it happen.
