An eventful weekend for DPH Motosports race team at the Aus X Open Sydney, Qudos Bank Arena.

Two epic nights of racing was cast across the Sydney Crowds over the weekend at the AusX Open Qudos Bank Arena.
DPH Motosports headed in to the last two rounds of Australian Supercross with a substantial lead in the SX2 Class with rider Hayden Mellross.
Saturday played in favor for the DPH Yamaha race team as Mellross finished round 5 of 6 in 3rd position.
Mellross rode in consistent and smooth form throughout the night to maintain his Red plate.
Sunday night deemed a heart braking turn of events for the SX2 DPH Motosports rider.
In order for Mellross to win his first ever National Championship he would need to stay upright and finish within the top two positions of the final main event.
Mellross was riding smooth and controlled with two laps to go Sitting 2nd place behind Genuine Honda USA Import rider Gavin Faith.
The Championship was in sight, when an unfortunate turn of events came over the SX2 rider, unfortunately Mellross received bike malfunction with only two laps to finish, resulting in a DNF.
Heart breaking for Mellross and the DPH Motorsports Race Team.
“This weekend was going smoothly and everything felt really comfortable. I hadn’t had any issues all weekend and i was so confident in myself that I was going to be able to seal the deal. Unfortunately a little bike problem, which was out of everyone’s control happened, and it resulted in a DNF. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through but luckily I have a great team around me and we are all keeping our heads high and looking forward to 2017!” – Hayden Mellross.
Mellross heads back to USA this Thursday to begin his pre – season training for the Monster Engergy Supercross that kicks off January 14, 2017 – Sandiego.
